Ivany Lopez Acosta Cruz was born on December 24, 1935 in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico to Ernesto Lopez and Isabel Cruz Acosta. She had 3 brothers and 6 sisters: Edwin, Angel Vidal, Nestor, Nydia (Cuty), Zenobia, Marta, Violet, Evelyn, and Bernada. In 1955, she moved to the Bronx where she met Gaspar Morales. They were married in 1959 and had one daughter, Milagros Morales. Ivany worked hard for many years as a seamstress at various clothes and luggage manufacturers until she retired in 1988. She had two granddaughters, Cathy and Marissa Morales, who affectionately referred to her as Lela. She was loved by many and will truly be missed.
